Forging Connections Across Continents
The University of Ruhuna Alumni Australia stands as a bridge between our rich academic heritage in Southern Sri Lanka and professional excellence in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our Story in Australia
The University of Ruhuna Alumni Australia (RUAA) was formed in 2010 when a group of Sri Lankan graduates from the University of Ruhuna began gathering in Melbourne to reconnect, support one another, and celebrate their shared academic heritage.
What started as informal meetups soon grew into a structured alumni body with a clear purpose: to unite Ruhuna graduates living across Australia and strengthen the bond between the alumni community down under and the University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka.
RUAA is built on the core values of unity, pride, and legacy. Over the years, the association has expanded its activities to include cultural celebrations, charity initiatives, educational support, and major annual events such as dinner dances, sports gatherings, and collaborative programs with other Sri Lankan university alumni groups.
Today, RUAA stands as a vibrant, inclusive network that brings together professionals, families, and students who share a common connection to Ruhuna. The association continues to foster friendship, preserve cultural identity, and create meaningful opportunities for its members—while honouring the spirit of the university that brought them together.
